1. This rule has been established by the MRS-Japan so as to award young scientists.
2. This award is to be presented to the young scientists who have made excellent poster
presentation in the academic symposium of MRS-J which is regularly held by MRS-J.
The main purposes are to encourage further progresses and to praise the
achievements of the young scientists.
3. Young scientists who have made poster presentations in the MRS-J symposium are
eligible to apply for this award:
(1) Registrant of the paper, and
(2) Actual presenter.
4. The young scientists (applicants) are classified into the following
categories and the awardees are determined in each category.
(1) Undergraduate students
(2) Master course students
(3) Doctor course students
(4) General scientists under 36 years old as of the end of the year when the
symposium is held.
Students are not subjected to the age limitation.
5. The Award Selection Committee nominates candidates for awardees, which should
not exceed 25 % of the total applicants, and recommends them to the Board of Trustees.
6. The Board of Trustees deliberates the recommendation of the Award
Selection Committee and determines the awardees.
7. The awardees receive the certificate of merit and the awardees' names appear on
the MRS-J newsletter (MRS-J Bulletin).
8. This rule may be altered by the Board of Trustees.
