@The author has been continuing works with respect to synthesize of inorganic materials at high pressure process for a long time, about 37 years. From experiences he got a claim that it is very important for a researcher to accumulate facilities and/or knowledge in order to show his originality. And he is willing to support young and original materials researches from the side.

The MRS-J Celebrated 10th Anniversary

@The Materials Research Society of Japan (MRS-J) celebrated its 10th anniversary of establishment at Ishigaki Memorial Hall in Tokyo, September 17, 1999. The day was highlighted with presentations featured seven majour lectures covered by various Gelds from science and technology to social science and recruiting.
"Materials Research and Development of the New Millenium" Dr. Hiroaki Yanagida, Director, the Japan Fine Ceramics Center, gave the first symposium lecture.
Dr. Masatoshi Okada, Director, the National Research Institute for Metals, addressed a lecture on "Material Science and Technology that Opens the 21st Century."
Ms. Sakie Tachibana-Fukushima, Vice-President, Japan KornFerry Co., Ltd., presented her speech, "Scientists as a Global Standards. "
Dr. Kazuo Inamori, President Emeritus, Kyocera Corp., discussed his career as an engineer who has been expericing technological innovations during past 40 years in the Geld of advanced ceramics in the lecture, "Innovation in Ceramic Technologies -My Way as an Engineer."
Dr. Hiroo lguchi, Director, Space Environment Utilization Systems, NASDA, delivered a lecture entitled "Materials and Functions. "
Prof. Emeritus, Dr. Yasuhisa Sakurai, Tokyo Womens Medical University, spoke about "Biomedical Materials and Medical Innovation"
Professor Akira Asada, Economic Research Institute, Kyoto University, gave a presentation on "Material/Immaterial Reconsideration upon Post Industrial Society."

Successive presidents, Drs. Masao Doyama, Shigeyuki Somiya, Takeshi Masumoto, Masaki Hasegawa, and Toshiki Takagi, and Secretary General Mr. Masataka Agata, director of MRSJ, were honoured for extraordinary services to the MRS-J during the reception of the 10th Anniversary held at the Alumni Hall, Tokai University, in Tokyo.

MRS-Japan Academic Symposium Annual academic symposium and the annual business meeting of the MRS-J will be held from December 16-17, 1999, in Kanagawa Science Park, Kawasaki-shi. The symposium committee has organized a coordinated program of broad technical interests in a forum designed to stimulate discussions on key issues in materials. The meeting includes 12 symposia. In addition, the meeting will include one satellite symposium from leading experts in the Gelds of interst to the TLO. Awarding will be made available to selected student presenters. Proceedings will be published in the Transaction of the MRS-J.
