Scope:

Some materials containing transition metal ions in a strong ligand field show interesting spin transition state of d electrons coupled with the crystal field, which is called spin-crossover (SC) phenomena, and such studies concerning the SC phenomena have been one of the most important issues in the material science. The effect is often seen in complexes with Fe2+ and oxide perovskites with Co3+, and various types of SC have been reported and discussed experimentally and theoretically.
Under these circumstances, the researches on the SC phenomena have recently been making remarkable progress especially in our country, such as fabrication of a new SC material, SC studies using novel experimental technique, and findings of functional properties involved in the SC effect, also in collaboration with theoretical groups.
In this symposium, we consider the SC phenomena as an important key word and intensively discuss the recent developments in the three topics, i.e., new materials, techniques and functional properties concerning the SC effect.

Topics:

1.Novel functions in spin crossover oxide
2.Novel functions in spin crossover organic complexes
3.Novel spin crossover materials
4.Structural studies in spin crossover materials using synchrotron radiation
5.Thin film fabriacation eletronic properties of ispin crossover materials for device applications
6.Ultrafast dynamics in spin crossover materials
