Research frontiers in fullerenes and related nanocarbons

Organizers:

Scope:

The advantage of fullerenes exists on the fact that they are the molecules that can be converted into various forms of carbons such as fullerene nanowhiskers, fullerene nanotubes, fullerene nanosheets, and so forth and that nanocarbons with a variety of novel properties including superconductivity can be synthesized from the fullerene molecules. Various fullerene derivatives for solar cell devices, anticarcinogenic drugs and so forth have been actively investigated up to now as well. In addition, nanocarbons such as carbon nanotubes and graphene are also being developed in practical applications as well as their fundamental aspects. On the other hand, the safety evaluation of carbon nanomaterials is indispensable to produce the safely usable materials. Hence, this symposium offers a forum of active discussions to contribute to the development of the carbon nanomaterials based on fullerenes and the themes related with risk management of nanocarbons.
